They have been hatching throughout the night. 3 chicks 3 ducks so far, with more on the way. Watch them live here: http://www.teacherjohnson.com/live-cam.html
Looks like we have a duckling making an escape from its shell. If you look closely at the picture you'll see a small crack where the duckling has pushed through the shell. It is currently in the air sack. Should hopefully hatch later on Sunday night. It's sitting directly in front of the camera. Nothing in the chick incubator yet! Fingers crossed
Today I removed the turners from the incubator. This is the last step before hatching. The humidity has been cranked up, temp lowered slightly, and all we have to do now is wait. Hopefully we will see some action on Sunday night. Mr. J
Primary students learned about simple ways to help keep our Earth clean for the people that will live here after us. We learned what happens at a landfill and the recycling center and how to identify what can be recycled. We completed an Earth Day pledge of simple things we can do at home.
We have recently concluded our investigation into what plants need to live. We tested water, air, soil, seeds, sunlight, and even love. Today we added different types of pollution to see what it's effects are. We added motor oil, acid rain, industrial cleaning agents, fertilizer, and road salt.
4th grade teams were given the task of creating a new bridge for the small town of Smallville. It had to be cost efficient, strong enough, and have good aesthetics. This is Mrs Mechling's class presenting to the town board. It's fair to say the tension was high during the strength test.
